About
The Racine County Board of Supervisors consists of 21 representatives who are elected to two-year terms in the nonpartisan elections each even-numbered spring. Each supervisor represents about 9,300 people.
The Board’s business is conducted through committee and Board meetings, which are open and the public is invited to attend. The Board’s authority to determine policy and direct county government comes from its powers vested by the state to adopt resolutions and ordinances to establish programs, services and laws for the county.
One of the major responsibilities of the Board is to adopt the annual county budget. The County Executive presents a recommended budget to the Board. The Finance & Human Resources Committee then holds budget meetings to review and deliberate what has been presented and suggest any recommended changes to the Executive Budget, prior to the County Board taking final action to adopt the budget for the following year.
